Stirring the Waters

How to Succeed at Exercising for Life

Health Clubs know a secret: most exercisers drop out. Clubs sign up more people than can use their facilities, knowing that many people who pay for membership won’t show up. Think about all the unused exercise equipment lying under beds, under sheets in the guestroom and in garages across the country.

waterLet’s talk about how to succeed at Exercising

Your body will not do the right thing without somebody prodding. It doesn’t like being exercised at first, but after about three weeks your body will change its mind: it will desire and expect to exercise. Here are the best tips I know to bulletproof your exercise routine.

  • Build exercise into your schedule. Schedule it like an important doctor’s appointment. Choose a time you won’t waver from, and put yourself on automatic so you don’t give yourself an “out”. A workout before breakfast, before lunch or before dinner is great. Just don’t exercise late at night, since you may be too charged up to sleep.

Also avoid exercise immediately after a meal. It will pull the blood from your stomach and intestines (where it’s needed to help digestion) to your muscles. You are likely to start belching and to have heartburn and other digestive problems. Exercise before you eat or two hours after you eat. However, a light snack before exercising is fine. (more…)

How to Make Confident Decisions about Your Jeans!

Sometimes it seems that there are more jeans in the world than people to wear them. It looks almost impossible to sort through all of those styles and find a pair that looks like it is made for you. There are really two issues when it comes to finding the best pair of jeans for your figure: finding a pair that fits and finding a pair that flatters.

It’s not as hard as it seems though. What you need is a little patience (Maybe a whole lot) and some information. One reason it’s so hard to find perfect jeans is because there are so many parts to the design that are required to fit, including the waist, thigh, length, inseam, backside. All it takes is one of these areas to fall short and your whole fit is out the window.

jeans26 Rules that go for every woman everywhere.

  • Do not emphasize the size over the fit. Sizes vary from brands and even stores. Nobody cares what size you are wearing; except you! What’s important is that it fits and flatters your body.
  • Don’t wear any skin. The days if cropped T-shirts that show belly are long gone. Seriously, jeans that show underwear and T-shirts that exposes your belly when you lift your arms aren’t very elegant or stylish. If you want to show some skin, try showing off your shoulders or collarbone. It’s much more subtle and sophisticated.
  • Think about the fact that your jeans will shrink. How will your jeans fit after you washed it?
  • Heavy, stiffer fabrics (right-hand twills) won’t hang as well on your body. Look for softer weaves and washes that will drape your lower body.
  • A slight flare looks good on just about every body type.
  • The darker the denim, the thinner you will look. Conversely, you’ll look larger in lighter washes (and the new treatments that make you new jeans look old that feature “worn” areas will highlight your figure wherever they are — like the backside of your jeans; the folds of the crotch, etc.) (more…)

Personalized Health

Take the mystery out of nutrition, health, and wellness

In 2002, the Journal of the American Medical Association, one of the leading medical journals in the United States shocked the medical community by publishing a study that recommended that all adults should take a multivitamin supplement to help prevent chronic diseases. For decades most of the medical establishment had insisted multivitamins were not necessary, that people got all the vitamins and minerals they needed from foods.

juice_bowlsIn a perfect world, the human body would indeed get all the nutrients it needs from food. However, processed foods have been stripped of much of their nutrient content. Our toxic environment and toxins in our food, water, and air as well as our overstressed lifestyles have increased our nutrient requirements.

But few, if any, people get the nutrients they need from food alone, even if they eat a completely healthy diet. Those nutrients are the building blocks of health and they will protect you against disease. Without them, you are likely to have nutrient deficiencies. It is extremely difficult to get all the nutrition your body needs from your diet alone.

According to the 1992 Earth Summit, North America has the worst soil in the world; 85 percent of vital minerals have been depleted from it. People noticed this trend as far back as 1936. Modern farmers fertilize the soil with a limited number of nutrients, mainly nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Many studies have shown how depleted soil has affected the mineral content of vegetables and fruits.

One of the reasons people need nutritional supplements is because of poor digestion.
An estimated 100 million Americans have some type of digestive disorder. This means that even if they put nutritious foods in their mouths, the nutrients may not have adequately absorbed by their bodies. There might be a lack of enzymes in the diet.

I recommend you to consider taking a daily multivitamin. Please consult with your physician if you are on medications before you begin taking any supplement. Most people have the misconception that vitamins will give them instant energy. Vitamins are not pep pills.
Vitamin literally means “vital amine,” and they are indeed needed for many biological processes including growth, digestion, mental alertness, and resistance to infection.

Vitamins and minerals are not optional for your health. They are at the very foundation of your health. I will mention some of the vitamins here that most people lack, what those nutrients do and what happens when you don’t get enough of them.

Brisk walking is one of the best exercises

Brisk walking is one of the best exercises I can recommend and it is free. It can give you three times the normal amount of oxygen you would otherwise get. Buy a good pair of walking shoes. So you don’t injure your feet and find a soft walking surface so you don’t injure your joints.

Walk slow enough so that you can talk, but walk fast enough, so that you can’t sing. Keep a steady pace without stopping.

One of mu friends started walking briskly four times a week for thirty minutes and after a year she had lost eighty pounds. I asked her if she made any changes in her diet. She said: “I didn’t change my eating habits at all.” Not a bad result for a regular walk around the block!

Choose your exercise location wisely. Exercising by a busy highway is almost worse that sitting at home eating bonbons. I see some people jogging by the side of the road during high traffic and not ten feet away buses and trucks go by pumping out big plumes and diesel exhaust. Those pollutants go into every cell in your body and it’s difficult to get rid of some of them. (more…)

The Benefits of Exercise

A friend of us is a mechanic and he told me once that when you don’t drive a car regularly it might break down. You can ruin a car by not using it and keeping it parked. Your body was designed to move. It needs water, rest, food and exercise to run smoothly. When you park yourself in a chair and don’t exercise, eventually you may ruin your engine.
Many people these days are sick because they haven’t stirred their waters with movement and action.

Stirring the Waters

For many people, exercise is the most difficult part of healthy living. Even people who are paid to be physically fit slack off. Stirring the waters with exercise is essential for you to prevent bodily stagnation. Our bodies are approximately two-thirds water; remember? And we said that when water moves, things grow and thrive.

On the other hand, when water that is not stirred (stagnant water) and nothing can survive and thrive in it except for microscopic bacteria, viruses and other microbes. Exercise is the remedy to prevent death and stir the waters of life in our bodies. All excuses are gone now, isn’t it? It’s time to take your health into your own hands and stir the waters of life with exercise.

A Clothes Exchange Party with Friends

Are you like me? There is something to it when you ‘are allowed’ to go through your friends’ closet. There always nice things stowed away in there. Some of the things that they are tired of may be just what you’re looking for and vise versa. Before you haul all your unwanted clothes away to the Salvation Army (although that is very good idea) you could host a swap meet party. It’s like a 100% free shopping spree for you and for your friends!

Beauty From the Top of Your Head to The Sole of Your Feet!

When you have been reading my eBook you know that this quote from Diane von Furstenberg:

Do learn to be comfortable in your own skin and with what you’re doing in your life. If you want to look beautiful, you have to be confident”

has been mentioned in there as one of the 1st quotes. First and foremost you are beautiful! You were created on purpose and with a purpose. You are valuable!

You can do it! You can look fabulous and dynamite, but if you don’t like yourself; you will reject yourself in some areas of your life if not in many areas. Because of this attitude you will feel disheartened and discouraged. This attitude will show in your attitude plus in your countenance.

In order to look great and astonishing, we need to eat right, drink plenty of water and get enough sleep and exercise. Exercise is very important. Our bodies are approximately two-thirds water. Think of what happens when water sits for a long time in a cup, puddle or pond. It eventually gets covered with slime and gunk, breeds disease and becomes toxic.

That process is similar to what’s going on in many people’s bodies. On the other hand when water moves, life thrives. Running water is usually fresh water. Rivers and waterfalls are beautiful and inviting – alive. That is a perfect picture of what exercise does. It refreshes our body and clears it of toxins and cellular garbage.
It sharpens your mind and giving you strength and energy.

Here is an exercise that I want to introduce you to: T-Tapp.

T-Tapp is a series of copyrighted, sequential movements designed to put the
body in proper functional alignment. Its special sequence of comprehensive,
compound muscle movement helps establish better alignment as well as increased
strength and flexibility of the spine, better neuro-kinetic flow, lymphatic
function, and increased metabolic rate. Its physical therapy approach to
fitness makes it safe for those with shoulder, hip, knee, neck, and back
concerns. Yet, it delivers a challenging workout for all fitness levels!
Teresa Tapp

The other really cool thing is that less is more; only one set of eight reps is needed for each exercise, and you don’t have to do it every day to achieve results (I even got my husband to do this).
You can read more about T-Tapp in Teresa’s book Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes, or by visiting www.t-tapp.com, where you will find free exercise in the try before you buy section.

BUILDING BLOCK: It’s time to stir the waters of your life again and begin exercising. Exercise refreshes your body, renews your energy and gives you strength!
